An Caisteal and Beinn A’ Chroin; 11 February 2024

This was my redemption climb for the failed attempt to do both Munros a few weeks prior. This time instead of following Glen Falloch to Beinn A’ Chroin, I left the glen early to get on the ridge leading up An Caisteal (‘The Castle’). Unfortunately, as soon as I started up this ridge clouds rolled in and visibility became extremely limited. The ridge up An Caisteal had what seemed like a dozen false summits. When I finally reached the true peak the wind picked up and it started to snow. These conditions made the extremely rugged traverse between An Caisteal and Beinn A’ Chroin nerve wracking to say the least. It took me a while to find the summit of Beinn A’ Chroin with that visibility, after which I descended quickly to escape the weather.
